Chapter Two: Among Ruin

Luca closed his eyes to shield himself from the massive explosion of dust, the one thought going through his mind being "what the Arceus was that?" There's no way that Audrey's fireworks could've done that. It was either an attack by Oblivion or the even more unpleasant option.

The recruits were unlucky enough to be faced with the latter...

Standing before them was the pokemon that every UA recruit knew and feared. A pokemon strong enough to take them all on and still come out on top. The one who had created the Unova Alliance. Andromeda the Lucario. "Just what do you think you're doing?" She snarled, her piercing blue eyes glaring down at the recruits, "get out of my way."

"Well what if we don't want to, Lady?" Lenny called back, before knocked across the pavement by an aura sphere in the chest. Andromeda gazed over the rest of the recruits with an icy glare, then dashed past them all, mumbling something about how they would never understand.

Andromeda bounded up to the top of the easternmost oil rig. This was her favorite place in the encampment, where she could sit and contemplate with the ocean as her only companion. Andromeda had a dark secret. One that would destroy her if anyone found out.

Andromeda was human.

She wasn't completely sure how she had become a Lucario, but once it had happened, everything changed. She could no longer communicate with other humans, and was powerless to protect them against Oblivion, even with her immense strength and speed. Before all this had happened, Andromeda had been like any other trainer. She travelled from region to region, catching and training her pokemon to one day fulfill her dream of becoming a pokemon contest master. Those sweet memories were still fresh in her mind, and any reminders of them were painful to her. Now, she was alone.

"You still want the old times, don't you."

Andromeda turned around and saw her only friend, Terry the Blaziken, standing over her. Terry was only a Torchic when the two had first met. He had been her first pokemon, and the two had many adventures together. Terry had lost his left arm fighting off an Oblivion attack, but still remained loyal to his former trainer. "It's definitely going to be hard to return to the human world after the war," he continued, "How will your old friends react to you when you come back to them as a pokemon?"

"I'll find a way to change back," she called back, but there wasn't much confidence in her voice. She had no idea how she became a Lucario. How could she become human again? And what about the recruits? What will they do when they realize thier leader was a human this whole time? There were dozens of questions that still remained unanswered, but Andromeda knew she had to figure them out. But how could she?

Correction Corner

In my last post, I mistakenly called the character Jerry the Turtwig by the name of Lenny several times. I apologize for any confusion. The character is in fact named Jerry. This mistake has arisen from the fact that Jerry was originally called Lenny, but I have since changed the name.

Apologies to all who were confused,

Matt Daley

Chapter One: Meet the recruits

Panicked, Luca dashed through the neverending network of tunnels, gasping for breath. Being an Eevee, he was small and fast, but tired out rather quickly. The only thing he could hear was his heart going into overdrive, the noise echoing off the walls of the corridor. Pathway after pathway, Luca bolted through the labyrinth, unsure of where he was going or which way was out. When he could take no more, Luca collapsed on the hard stone ground, hoping that whatever was chasing him would just gobble him up quickly.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

Standing over Luca was the vast red body of Barret the Magmortar, a General in the Oblivion Military. "Soooooo," Barret chuckled, a hideous smile creeping across his huge pink lips, "you thought you could escape me. Were you going to reveal my wherabouts the those brigands you call the Alliance?" Luca tried to get up, but his legs were too weak to hold him for more than a second. He felt the intense heat eminating Barret's arm cannon, which was aimed directly at his head. "now you die by my flames," Barret laughed, "just like your mommy and daddy did".

Luca awoke with a start.

The whole ordeal had been a dream. He was safe inside an Alliance Bunker, his friend Jerry the Turtwig looking at him with a confused expression. "Dude, what in the sweet name of Arceus was all that about?" Jerry yelled, "you were huffing and puffing and really screwing with my beauty sleep!"

"Oh, uh... Sorry about that." Luca stuttered, still somewhat shaken by the nightmare. "I guess you could say my dreams were a tad...creepy."

"Ah, a creepy dream," Jerry replied, "like the one I had the other night about the Mr. Mimes in the hallway. Now let's hoof it. Our morning grub awaits". Jerry had been friends with Luca ever since he found the little Eevee living behind a dumpster in Castelia City. The two traveled across the region together for a few weeks before joining the Unova Alliance. The two had lived on the Alliance's secret camp in Virbank City ever since.

On the way to the mess hall, the two saw that most of the other recruits were already up. Luca was still feeling a bit drowsy until a passing football nearly beaned.

"Hey, Slowpokes," a voice cried out, "pick up your feet and get out of the way. I'm honing my armed combat skills. Luca turned around and saw that the voice belonged to Roy, a stuck-up Marshtomp who was convinced his football was a deadly weapon. Not wanting to hear him rave about his mad skills for the next half-hour, Luca and Jerry high-tailed it for their breakfast of chunky poke-food. Jerry's stomach was grumbling like crazy, loud enough for him not to notice that Luca was standing still, his fluffy tail shaking like crazy. Jerry knew that gesture well, and only one thing could provoke it: Audrey.

Audrey was a Luxio that had been recruited only a few weeks before Luca had, and it was no secret that he liked her. She turned around and saw Luca watching her in the least subtle way possible. "Hi guys," she said in her usual upbeat tone, pretending not to notice Luca ogling her like a prize ribbon.

"H...Hi Ah...Audrey," Luca replied in the tone reserved for when he realized he was making a complete fool of himself, "how are you d...d...doing?"

"Me and Penelope are doing just fine, thank you," Audrey said, gesturing to her Azumarill friend right next to her, "wanna see this new trick we invented? I call it 'the hydraulic rocketeer'". Jerry screamed in protest, but was drowned out by Luca's overwhelming cries of encouragement.

Without further ado, Audrey bounded into the air, a radiant yellow light bristling off her fur. Penelope then fired off a massive jet of water, catching her partner midair. Audrey used the water spout for momentum, flipping off of it and discharging her electricity into a massive firework show.

Then a colossal explosion swept through the clearing...

Prologue

The Region of Unova was once a grand place, where people and pokemon lived together in harmony. The two worked together to help create a bright and beautiful future for all, a future where everything was perfect.

          But that was before Vladislav.

Vladislav, a Darkrai, came to Unova in chains when a group of poachers took him to sell on the black market. In a fit of rage, he killed his captors and fled into the wilds of the region. There, he rallied a massive army of pokemon into a group he called Oblivion. Oblivion devoted itself to one goal: erraticating the humans of Unova. Within weeks, The army of Oblivion had completed many successful conquests, seizing towns and killing any humans that lived there. Any attempts by humanity to resist was futile, as the sheer scale of Oblivion's military could crush whatever stood in the way of Vladislav's ultimate ambition.

Within a year, the armies of Oblivion had seized control of the entire region, and the last humans had all been hunted down and killed. The sounds of the bustling cities replaced by the terrifying cries of Golbats and Skarmorys as they patrolled the air above Unova. Oblivion's huge and powerful military had stopped all attempts to get in or out of Unova, effectively sealing it off from the rest of the world. Vladislav now stood at Oblivion's head, ruling as emporer of Unova.

          Yet there was still hope...

Not all of the pokemon in Unova wanted to submit to Vladislav and his massive army. These pokemon called themselves the Unova Alliance, and together they fought to overthrow the tyrannical emporer and return Unova to the way it once was: peaceful and gorgeous, with pokemon living alongside humans in mutual companionship.

News of this eventually reached Vladislav, who has now devoted himself to a new goal, stamping out the Unova Alliance and everything they stand for. This escalated to a full-scale war, a war known as the Pokelypse.
